Dr. Ian Waters

Dr. Ian Waters

Ian has had a varied academic and policy-related career, including lectureships and research posts in the universities of London, Oxford, Teesside, Nottingham Trent and Surrey. Ian also worked as a research and development officer in Hampshire Constabulary for nearly five years, and joined London Metropolitan University in 2003.His research interests, past and present, include police reform, youth justice, ethnic minority recruitment in the police, resource allocation, crime pattern analysis, and policing and postmodernity. He is currently working with a senior officer in the Metropolitan Police on the development of ‘proceeds of crime' policy and strategy. Ian teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Crime Control, Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Serious and Serial Offenders, and Crime and Offender Patterns; he is also the course leader for the MSc in Criminology, and admissions tutor for the BA (Hons) Criminology.
