Wendy Fitzgibbon Wins Tender to Evaluate Women in Prison Programme

Dr Wendy Fitzgibbon, who teaches on the Masters degree in Criminology, contributed to a successful competitive tendering process to evaluate a Women in Prison Project. Women in Prison, who support and campaign for women offenders and ex-offenders, were awarded a 2-year grant in May 2009 to extend their successful model of assertive outreach in the community throughout London, enabling them to provide additional services in prisons, magistrates' courts and a number of women’s centres.  As well as evaluating their work it is also envisaged that the evaluation report will be disseminated to relevant agencies and practitioners within the criminal justice and women’s sectors in order to impact positively upon the future development of similar services for women offenders or ex-offenders.
