Media, Information and Communications is a dynamic and challenging area of study. Part of the Department of Applied Social Science, we offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Digital Media, Information Services Management, Information Knowledge Management, Mass Communications and Media Studies. Throughout, the emphasis is on high-quality teaching and evaluation. Study takes the form of lectures, workshops, seminars and tutorials, while assessment covers essays, practical and theoretical projects and presentations. Emphasising innovation and open-mindedness, a stand-out feature is the pride we take in supporting students in this exciting and continually-evolving sector All the teaching takes place on North Campus, where Learning Resource Centres provide traditional and electronic information sources. We encourage students to pursue a wide range of reading and research, so that they’re fully prepared to respond to new, challenging and contemporary ideas. The diversity of students taking Media, Information and Communications courses is one of our strengths, enhancing as it does experience and range of knowledge. We encourage you to be creative in your approach to your studies, to look at things differently, and to develop a wide range of intellectual and practical skills.
