Research

I am interested in cultural analysis of emotions, body, gender, sexuality, subjectivity and life history research. I have been involved in a number of community based collaborative life history research projects.

I am a member of the editorial board of the journal Oral History and the Oral History Society.

Teaching

I am Course Leader for MA Life History Research. I teach the following postgraduate modules: Collecting Life Histories, Making Life Histories - Analysis and Media Production, Media Audiences.

Family Matters: Somali Theatre Project (working with colleagues from London Metropolitan University and Oxford House Youth Project to research and represent, via a theatre piece, intergenerational issues affecting the Somali community in Tower Hamlets, funded by Arts Aimhigher and LB Tower Hamlets), 2007
