London Met students to display work at historic Devonshire Square Campus

Students from BA Fashion, BA Fashion Photography, and Masters in Fine Art are showing their work at the Devonshire Square Campus art studio, DSQube from 12 April to 2 May 2024.

Date: 15 March 2024

Students on the Fashion and Fashion Photography courses will be displaying work from TRADE, a student-led project that examines garment designs from traditional workwear clothing that have been developed into contemporary fashion garments.

Students on the Masters in Fine Art course are presenting their project, London Metier, which demonstrates their use of sustainability in art practice to engage with the public.

The Devonshire Square Campus art studio, DSQube, is located in a historic estate that once housed warehouse storing raw silk, piece goods, and textiles. Much like London Met’s Aldgate Campus, the art-space is keen to engage with the vibrancy and colours from local markets, communities, restaurants and stores in London’s bustling East End.

Jen Ng, Head of Projects said "We are delighted by DSQ's ongoing support for our student Art, Architecture and Design projects. The students work presents the themes of workwear and sustainable practice in the context of fashion and art; core issues that we champion at London Met."

“Working closely within our community of local galleries and stakeholders is one of the most meaningful experiences we offer our students based in Aldgate.”

An opening event will be held on Thursday 11 April from 4:30 – 7pm at the gallery.
