Studio 6: LCF New Generation

Studio philosophy

This year long, 'slow cooked' studio will focus on developing an understanding of the design process and the various drivers (ingredients) that can be employed to generate new furniture and product design. Through experiencing and using a variety of combinations of design drivers (recipes) such as material character, functionality and implications of user or context, you will be better equipped to effectively employ broad design thinking in your future working lives.

Project Briefs

This studio will deliver complex and intensive projects and briefs from the outset in the form of weekly design challenges, taught lessons and live briefs. It is not a studio choice for the faint hearted. You will be asked to consider how you expect to work over the coming years in order to negotiate your studio content and direction.

All studio briefs will be supported by workshop access for prototyping and testing as well as training in digital presentations and drawing, visits to industry and chances to exhibit on an international stage.

Studio Project Partners:

The studio will work with partners Designers Block, Heal’s, Parker Knoll and others.
