In Studio 6 we invite you to a deeper understanding of the design industry and what it really means to be a working designer today. To be part of a new way of living, thinking, being.
You will be guided by a professional team of lecturers and practitioners to the structures and timings of the textile industry, enabling you to work with a highly creative, responsible, well-informed and considered approach to design. Preparing you with the knowledge you will need for where you want to be out there in the textile world. We'll ask you to emotionally engage in your work, self-reflect, analyse and excel beyond your own expectations.
You'll explore how craft and artisanal approaches to making can be married to the new design processes, and discover which mediums best suit your personal design language.
We will set ourselves up as a real design studio, consisting of live projects, trade shows and direct contact/visits with professional practitioners the real movers and shakers in the design industry. We'll provide insight from both a designer's and manufacturer's perspective.
What is expected from you in return is a high level of personal creative input, thoughtful debate, fresh ideas and a highly professional approach to your practice. This will include in-depth personal research and real understanding of your chosen field in textiles and the ability to question and reimagine what you believe a design process to be.
