The studio will focus on bold, experimental and non-traditional approaches to fashion textiles, design and make, trend prediction and presentation across the constructed textile disciplines knit, weave and stitch.
The Cass design philosophy champions both originality and innovation. Students will be encouraged to cross-pollinate the disciplines that best reflect their own creative approach. With the use of wide-ranging LIVE projects set by high profile individuals & established brands within the fashion industry, the student will gain the confidence to achieve work that will be exciting and demanding in both ambition & reach.
Lead by practicing professionals with a highly creative edge, the studio offers complementary workshops in the application of alternative surface treatments and skills, constructive techniques of both hand and machine, and key knowledge of industry technology. It is invaluable to establish a keen understanding of the industry and generate a network of useful contacts, so we offer the opportunity to visit relevant industry trade shows, get involved with important cultural/fashion events within London & introduce prevalent introductions, Q&As and lectures from inspirational professionals from both the creative & manufacturing sides of the fashion textile industry throughout the course.
The course aims to maximize creativity and intellectual potential by nurturing and developing the individual strengths and design philosophy of the student, who will gain a firm understanding of the professional context and practice of constructed textiles for fashion. We encourage the building of a personal creative identity and an aesthetic vocabulary for every student, which will be informed by historical, cultural and technical knowledge, and by the practical experience of creating unique and original textiles.
