Visiting researchers at our School of Social Sciences, School of Social Professions and at the School of Art, Architecture and Design
London Metropolitan University is able to host a small number of visiting researchers and visiting doctoral students each year. As we are unable to accept all those wishing to visit and work with us, we especially welcome those whose research interests fit most closely with those of our research centres and institutes. We will work with the visiting researchers we do accept in advance of their visit to develop an agreed research work plan, which brings clear benefits to both parties. In order to make the most effective use of your time with us, we suggest that plans are made well in advance of your visit, usually several months in advance.
If you are an academic at another university from any part of the world and you wish us to consider accepting you as a visiting researcher, or if you are registered as a doctoral student in another university and wish to spend a period of time attached to London Met, you should complete the visiting researcher application form and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org with all requested documents. A formal offer can only be made if we are satisfied that we can provide the facilities and support you require. The offer will be made by the school via the Research and Postgraduate Office. These processes can take several weeks, so please allow enough time. If you are a non-EU resident you will need to allow additional time to make a visa application. Further information on visas.
Fees and expenses
Visiting researchers are charged the fee for part-time research students. Fees for visits of less than a calendar year are normally charged on a pro rata basis. A Head of School can recommend that additional research expenses may be charged ie, bench fees. All visiting researchers are liable for the approved fee and should ensure that they have sufficient funds available to maintain themselves whilst in London and to pay the fees.
