Nanomedicine

Today more than ever there is great interest in Nanotechnolgy and its application in Nanomedicine.

We as scientists are at a turning point, to explore the new era in health and disease management via the development of Nanomolecules. Nanotechnology application (at the interfaces of chemistry, biology, materials science, physics and engineering) will play a significant role in drug delivery system and new products development. We are contributing to the future of new pharmaceutics and bridging to nutraceutical product formulation using nanotechniques (Solid Lipid Nanoparticles; aka SLN).

Our current projects exploring what nanotechnology can offer are

  1. Formulation and optimisation of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) containing essential active nutrients with the aim of enhancing their efficacy in cell model of dementia.
  2. Formulation and optimisation of solid lipid nanoparticles containing plant stanols/ sterols and to evaluate the effectiveness of pharmacovigilance programme in Nepal and the United Kingdom with a specific focus on statins
