About us

Media, culture and creative technologies influence all aspects of personal, social, economic and political life. They are also evolving and changing rapidly. Our current research is located within media, community media, life histories, American film and televisionpopular culture, the politics of representation, cultural history, digital culture and journalism. 

Mission and objectives 

The Media, Culture and Creative Technologies Research Group was formed to promote synergies and collaboration between researchers in our subject area. Its main activities include: 

  • fostering interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration in researching media, cultural and creative technologies 
  • supporting research by staff and postgraduate students  
  • supporting teaching in media, cultural and creative technologies 
  • developing research partnerships with communities beyond the University  
  • hosting a programme of public symposia
