  • Prof. Hassan Kazemian ( – Director of the Intelligent Systems Research Centre. Research interests include applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to many areas such as: big data research; cyber security research including steganography, cryptography, identity resolution, crowd-sourced data, mobile devices security, cloud security, web server attacks, penetration testing, e-commerce security and policy, GDPR, cryptocurrency, dark net and social graph; membrane protein (bioinformatics research); data mining and data warehousing; applications of AI to robotics; neuro-linguistic programming and natural language processing. Currently part of a five million Euro EU Horizon 2020 Spirit (Scalable Privacy Preserving Intelligence Analysis for Resolving Identities) project consortium with 17 European partners.  
  • Dr Elaheh (Ela) Homayounvala ( - Deputy Director of Intelligents Systems Research Centre. Dr Homayounvala is a PhD graduate of King’s College London. Her PhD was funded by Mobile VCE. She has over nine years of experience in teaching in Higher Education particularly in interdisciplinary research. Most recently she has worked at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research is focused on User Modelling and Personalisation (UMAP) and includes topics such as applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in UMAP, personalisation in remote health monitoring systems, automatic learner’s profiling and personalisation of VLEs, personalisation of interactive recommender systems, user preference modelling, and Personal Assistant Agents.
  • Istteffanny Isloure Araujo ( - holds a first class BSc (2008) in Computer Science and a Distinction for her MSc in Computer Forensics and IT Security accredited by the British Computing Society (2014) from London Metropolitan University. Her research interests include improving information security and tracking for copyright and Big Data. This includes for private documents such as images that freely navigate the IoT, tackling Digital Crimes Investigation and Evidence Masking on digital devices, including Crowd Sourced Data, Secure Event, Robust Logging, Hybrid Monitoring and Steganography.
  • Dr Milan Todorovic ( - Dr Todorovic is currently a lead doctoral supervisor: Intelligent media systems in manufacturing supply chains for television content (abridged title). Research interests include: strategy, innovation, business modelling, supply/value chains, co-creation, co-design, co-opetition, creative industry paradigms and AI, convergence in business, communications, communication/internet ethics, product-service systems, blockchain contexts, cognition in socioeconomic contexts, sustainability, teleology/methodology.  
  • Prof Karim Ouazzane ( – Research interests include: identifying and predicting human behaviour using computer vision; intelligent and continuous bimodal speech recognition for wireless devices; fraud detection frameworking using machine learning and deep learning; video trajectory reconstruction using neural networks; cyber threat intelligence modelling using AI and machine learning; building a centralised management system that encapsulates the core aspects of the business and accommodates the raising requirements of business growth; a cyber security framework for protecting SMEs IT infrastructure; an authentication system for e-learning platform; developing a customised intelligent keyboard for disabled people; an intelligent intrusion detection system for shared networks
  • Dr Vassil Vassilev ( – Research interests include: artificial intelligence; description logic; security analytics; semantic web and linguistic disambiguation. Dr Vassilev is a reader in AI and cyber security.
  • Dr Qicheng Yu ( – Dr Yu acts as the Subject Standard Board Chair of Computer Science and Applied Computing and the course leader of Data Analytics MSc and Information Technology (Distance Learning) MSc programmes. His research interests include: data mining; text mining and big data analysis; data warehousing and business intelligence; cyber security; software agents in distributed systems and e-business and e-commerce systems.
  • Dr Kenneth White ( – Dr White is a molecular biologist based in the Institute for Health Research and Policy at London Metropolitan University who has extensive experience in the implementation of bioinformatic applications. Current research interests include: the study of specific transmembrane proteins as well as analysis of genomic plasticity and the proteome.
  • Dr Preeti Patel ( – Dr Patel’s research interests are varied and have included graduate competency and employability, assessment feedback methods, learning-related issues for database environments and knowledge management systems. Dr Patel is currently supervising in the areas of machine learning and learning technologies in Higher Education. Dr Patel is Head of Computer Science and Applied Computing.
