The studio aims to build a broad working knowledge of design through real life briefs and direct experience of working with industry. The design process for us is driven by making and students are encouraged to build multiple full scale prototypes in the development of sound and resolved outcomes. The result is to instill knowledge of a wide variety of materials and their related processes as well as a confidence in their application.
Students have been offered briefs from Parker Knoll, The Geffrye Museum, Butchoff, Lloyd Loom, Heal’s, and Ligne Roset, as well as prestigious private commissions and competitions.
Again this year, a number of pieces were taken to the Milan Furniture Fair and Clerkenwell Design Week by the students themselves, providing first hand experience putting their work onto the international stage.
