BA (Hons) Jewellery and Silversmithing Degree Show

Show overview

Creative ways of working are developing in different directions. The traditional pattern of workshop and client is morphing with relational and collaborative work structures, becoming a new rationale for ways of living.

The show exemplifies this dynamic emerging thematic through the diverse projects and collaborations described within Studio practice. Three Studios are on display here: Think Personal-Make Public, Articulate Bodies and Assorted Jewels. Each studio includes a range of projects and thematic approaches that demonstrate the diversity of possibility within contemporary jewellery and silversmithing practice.

At the beginning of a new way of life for each of the participants, the exhibition is a catalyst for further work and the launch of their careers as future designers, makers, collaborators, critics and explorers in a range of futures that always inspires and surprises.

Look closely and think about what you see here, each piece is a new way of looking and understanding, unique in its own way, an amalgam of culture, spirit, tenacity, and informed expression.

Materials cover the spectrum of possibility with enamels, precious & non-precious metals, ceramics and found objects, felts, sponges, fabric and even crushed gemstones are all on display.
