MA Design

About the Show

The exhibition showcase work by students on MA Furniture, MA Graphic Design, MA Interior Design, MA Jewellery and MA Product Design. In 2013-14, these courses will be joined by MA Fashion and Textiles and MA Illustration.

MA Design courses are grounded in the understanding that design is a key driver for change in society and the environment. The challenges and opportunities for design and designers are being constantly re-imagined as the unpredictability of the future tests our capacity to adapt, invent and apply creative design solutions to emerging needs and scenarios. Graduates of these courses produce work that defies narrow conceptions of  designers as concerned solely with appearance and function.

Our staff and students share a commitment and passion for  contemporary design and its global and local contexts,  and a desire to test the premises of design, theoretically as well as practically. Student projects vary from intense one-day conceptual projects to branded 'client' projects culminating in the self-selected major projects at the end of the course that are exhibited at the show
