Interior Intervention Studio

Studio led by Sue Ginsburgh, Assa Ashuach & Onur Ozkaya

About the studio show

Woolwich Arsenal was once a secret, armaments manufacturing and explosive research centre. During World War II over 30,000 people worked at the Arsenal. The site closed in 1967 and was bought by Berkley Homes in 2001. The developers began to transform the area with new buildings and the conversion of the many the listed building on the site into luxury riverfront apartments. The development has been criticised by the local community as an elitist enclave separate to Woolwich Town. The students brief was to research the area, choose a building, develop a programme of use and design an interior space which would encourage integration between the new community of the Arsenal with the existing resident Woolwich.
