This design based and research orientated course develops students’ design knowledge through intensive project work leading to an individual thesis.
Students come from a variety of architectural and spatial backgrounds where roles blur and design skills and knowledge need to be critical and responsive. Taught alongside the Professional Diploma in Architecture the course builds upon a common interest in spatial design and its critical theoretical framework.
The course combines design research projects, undertaken in a choice of practice-led studios, history & theory modules and a thesis.
The structure enables students to establish a substantial body of work that, together with personal areas of inquiry, form the basis of their thesis. This is an ambitious piece of work articulating the student’s original engagement with the subject and demonstrating an individual and rigorous application of design thinking.
