About the show
The work on show illustrates the desire of our furniture professional course students to further their abilities in fine hand and machine craft work. There has been teaching of furniture craft in our institution for 150 years and the culture of striving for excellence continues in all of our furniture courses. According to the level of study, students will either undertake set projects, or pursue with our help the successful completion of their own designs. In either case, teaching is for the most part workshop based, with practical demonstrations and handouts
Our Furniture Short Courses are designed to broaden understanding of the subject and materials, building from initial tool use sessions to give participants the necessary skills to design and make their own furniture. Currently we offer beginner, intermediate and advanced short courses: Introduction to Furniture Making, Intermediate Furniture Making , Making and Finishing Furniture, and Making Furniture with Power Tools. Your level of experience determines the nature of projects undertaken on the courses.
