The Participation of Memory

Preoccupation is with the city and it's inhabitants. Growth and development is linked to the environment and the structure we create within. These environments should promote freedom and encourage creative interaction. To facilitate a dialogue, design must include...

Our cities are built on memory and experience, the layers hold value and support an understanding which preserves our identity. Cities must maintain and re imagine their identity in order to present their future. They must become visual beacons connecting generations through memory, contextualising lives and supporting a sense of
belonging.

The erosion and eradication of a city negates the very thing that designers and architects claim to embrace. The shock of the new can be a lonely place.

Urban Actuators & Meanwhile Spaces

We believe that the underlying need for cities to flourish is cultural context. Without this link we flounder to find meaning and to satisfy our need to belong. Places are triggers for memories and inspiration.

Urban Actuators, link our past, our present and our future, without these we wander aimlessly through our cities unable to connect on an emotional or a social level, risking alienation and cultural divide.

Empty buildings and meanwhile spaces can offer the glue to adhere the mechanics of the city, places for people and their activities. Layers of structure & material offer memories and hope to the past and future generations. Our cities, our Time Machines.
