New architecture school and an international research centre in Sancti Spiritus

The Space Across

London Met and ASD have entered negotiations with the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education and the Universities of Sancti Spíritus and Santa Clara in Cuba to establish a new architecture school and an international research centre in Sancti Spiritus.

ASD have been asked to carry out a feasibility study for new building for the architecture school that will exemplify the aims of the research centre. The commission has arisen out of a successful design project for a school in Old Havana designed by Unit 2 led by Rik Nys in 2005-07 in collaboration with London Met’s Caribbean Special Interest Group. The designs were exhibited in London and in Cuba and have been published in a book entitled The Space Across.
