Brazilian student Jose Neto heard about the Chevening Awards through friends who had already received the scholarship and from extensive research on their website. The application process was long and rigorous and it involved several stages culminating in a face-to-face interview at the nearest British Embassy.
Part of the process was to choose what course to study and where to study it. Jose knew he wanted to study finance and chose to study at London Metropolitan University because his course, MSc International Banking, Finance and Compliance, not only covers finance but also a wider variety of subjects. He particularly enjoys the practical aspect of the classes and the use of the Bloomberg suite which prepares students for real-life work situations.
Jose Neto is confident that this experience will not only benefit him academically but will also help his career by enabling him to network with many students from various places and backgrounds. In the future, he plans to work back in Brazil to try to make a difference to his country using the skills that he has been learning in the UK.
