Kate is a Senior Lecturer and Placement Lead. She joined London Metropolitan University in 2016 from Middlesex University where she was a joint appointment working as a Senior Lecturer at Middlesex University and the Head of Practice Learning for Enfield Council. Prior to this appointment, Kate worked for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames for over 20 years in various positions. She is an experienced and skilled manager with expertise in providing leadership and management to social work teams in both hospital and community settings. During this period, Kate developed interests in student learning and supervision and obtained her practice teaching award in 2004. Her specialist teaching interest is in Adult Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Assessment (MCA) and Best Interest Assessment. She is a trained Best Interest Assessor (BIA). Research interests are in safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the impact of safeguarding on families and carers.
Kate has PGCert and the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is currently a convenor for all the practice learning modules and the assessment, planning and professional ethics for undergraduates and postgraduates. She is currently undertaking her PhD exploring the social impact of Leprosy.
