David Stringer-Lamarre is the managing director of Fortis Consulting London (FCL), a company whose focus is organisational development with an emphasis upon effective communication and engagement; interpersonal and cross cultural.
David is also the chairman of the Institute of Directors (IoD), City of London, which has 1000+ business leaders as members. IoD City of London covers the City and Canary Wharf. This very active and well connected branch has a strong interest in UK and international trade. IoD City of London has three special interest groups: China, property and financial services.
Each year David addresses members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons during the IoD City of London annual dinner with the All Parliamentary Party China Group.
As well as engaging with central government, David enjoys strong and positive relationships with the Corporation of London representing the views of business to the lord mayors, sheriffs, aldermen and senior leaders within the Corporation.
He is a well known figure in the City of London and beyond. He has chaired and spoken at many events including within the House of Lords, the House of Commons, The Mansion House, the Guildhall, the Law Society, Chartered Accountants Hall, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Eversheds, Deloittes, Barclays, and The High Commission of Canada.
David holds several degrees including Law and an MBA. As well as having a successful background in operational management, he is a keen advocate of companies improving their cross-cultural understanding and engagement skills in order to be successful in the ever contracting global market place; this includes ‘in-house’ and with clients.
David has designed and led several change management programmes, putting robust planning and effective communication at the centre of them. He is passionate about innovation and performance improvement. He has wide experience of consultancy and management development, including assisting not-for-profit organisations in effectively engaging with companies. At Fortis Consulting London one of his responsibilities is to keep the team briefed on current business and financial matters.
David has significant experience of adding value to organisational development projects particularly those involving organisational engagement (external and internal), the management of change and cross-cultural dimensions.
He has significant expertise of organisational cultural alignment involving joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions; particularly cross border.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Directors, a court member and committee chairman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass (founded 1328), a member of the Bank of England Institute of Directors Panel, the 48 Group Club, the Court of City University, the Cass Business School Entrepreneurs Network and a vice president of Blackheath Football Club (the world's oldest open rugby club).
David enjoys travel (he has visited over 70 countries), skiing, wine tasting and literature.
