Date: 05/01/2015

London Metropolitan University, in partnership with Weightmans, has created a paid nine month internship offering a London Met law graduate full time employment.

Weightmans is a Top 45 law firm, recognised as the leading legal employer in the UK. The London Met graduate internship is part-funded by Weightmans and by the University Secretary’s Office, for whom Weightmans is the main provider of external legal services.

Laure-Helene Glodkowski is the first graduate from our faculty to benefit from this opportunity. After graduating from London Met with First Class Honours in Law with International Relations, Laure-Helene used her extensive experience in law to secure the internship at Weightmans. Laure-Helene credits London Met with preparing her for this internship.

“The possibility to join the mooting competition [while at London Met] allowed me to feel confident in speaking to an audience, to think on my feet and enhanced my communication skills.

“The lecturers within the law faculty all are very helpful, and provided me with excellent advice for both professional and personal matters.”

During the internship Laure-Helene hopes to get experience of working in a City law firm as well as gaining some insights into public law.

She adds: “The job market is highly competitive and one must fight to succeed, so don't give up!”

Laure-Helene started her internship on Monday 8 December.

Peter Garrod, University Secretary said: “The University has an excellent relationship with Weightmans and we are pleased that we have been able to work together to create this opportunity for one of our Law graduates”.
