Why study this course?

This one-day course will give you the opportunity to learn some basic traditional upholstery techniques while working on a drop-in seat cushion to rejuvenate an old chair or create a soft pad for a new chair. The course is also a good follow up to the Intermediate Furniture Making short course at The Cass.

More about this course

On the course, you will learn the proper use of tools, equipment and the correct fixings required when upholstering a chair cushion. You will also learn about material selection and uses and applications of certain upholstery fabrics.
By the end of the day, you will have learnt some useful and transferable basic traditional upholstery skills and/or have completed a drop-in seat to go in your chair of choice. Please contact us for advice on suitable projects. If you do not have a specific project, you can still attend the course using a model which will enable you to gain all the skills required to upholster a drop-in seat.
