Rosemary Benson was appointed as a staff governor in October 2018 and is a member of the Board of Governors. She is also currently a member of the Governance Committee. She is Principal Professional Development Manager and is part of the Centre for Professional and Education Development in the human resources department, and has held a number of posts within staff development and human resources over the past 24 years including spending her early HE career in residential, catering and conference services at a number of universities.
Rosemary is a Chartered member of the CIPD (the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development), the professional body for human resources and people development. Away from HE, Rosemary is Chair of Governors at Rathfern Primary School, a maintained school in south-east London. Rathfern Primary is an outstanding school and during her tenure as Chair, the school has achieved several external marques of recognition including:

- UNICEF Rights Respecting Silver award
- The NFER Research Mark – going beyond
