Please read the Student Access to Modules page for instructions on how to get access to WebLearn modules
One or more of my WebLearn modules have little or no content in them
- As lecturers are responsible for providing content for WebLearn modules you will need to contact the lecturer taking you for that module
- However, tutors may choose to not release course materials and tools until the first day of teaching
What happens if my computer crashes?
You are responsible for finding another computer to use. Make arrangements, prior to starting the module, with friends, family, or your work office to be able to use their computer should something happen to yours. This will help prevent any delays if your computer crashes at a critical moment. Should all else fail be sure to contact your lecturer by email about your difficulties immediately, after the fact is not good enough. Sending an email or a phone call in real time will certainly document the time of the problem.
What happens if my computer crashes while I’m taking a test?
Unfortunately, the information is likely to be lost permanently and you will need to recreate the information. If you experience problems during a test and cannot continue, please contact your lecturer immediately.
Following are a few reasons that you might lose information that you are entering in WebLearn:
- The Internet connection dropped.
- The browser was refreshed.
- Your browser timed out due to inactivity. WebLearn has a security setting that logs you out if it doesn't receive any input for a period of time.
The following tips can help you avoid this issue in the future:
- Do not refresh the browser page.
- Do not close the browser window
- Do not click the browser's back button.
- If possible, write out the text in an external application and then paste it into WebLearn. Working offline first ensures that your work in progress will not be lost.
What happens if my computer crashes or my Internet goes down and I can not submit an assignment?
In this case, contact the lecturer immediately. However, you should always have a back‐up plan. A snag in your Internet service is unfortunate but there are plenty of places where you can get internet access, including libraries, Internet cafes, and the homes of your friends and family. If you do not leave everything to the last minute, this should not be a problem. Likewise, if you have acted responsibly to back up your documents, you should have no problem sending a file from a portable CD, disc, or Flash Drive from another computer. Being prepared is the best defence!

Problems opening Files in Weblearn
-
If you are using Internet Explorer and MS Office 2007, a download pop-up message will appear at the top of your screen the first time you try to open a file in Weblearn. When you accept the download, the page will refresh and you will be taken back to the front page of Weblearn. Go back to the file you were trying to access and you will now be able to open the file and any other files. This only happens the first time when you're trying to access a file in your weblearn session, and you can set your browser to always download files without asking first.

What if I can’t see an animation, PPT, video, or image on my computer?
If you are having trouble viewing something that is either in WebLearn or linked to the module, than you may not have all the appropriate software or plug‐ins to view the materials. Although we make available, in your course, all the required software, it is possible that you missed something and has not been installed yet or properly. Try to install it again or go to the appropriate Web site to download the software that you need.
What happens if I find a broken link?
While we try to keep all of the links as current as possible, it may happen that a link in a PowerPoint presentation or part of the course work may be broken. If this is the case, please contact your lecturer to report the issue.
