Overview

This courses aim to provide students with the ability to use mathematical reasoning and techniques in a variety of contexts and to apply knowledge in problem solving situations, the background knowledge and skills that will enable graduates to work effectively in areas where data analysis and, in particular, the analysis of large data sets, are important. This will include most large modern organisations. The focus of the course is the application of the statistical techniques in appropriate contexts using commercially used software. Students studying for this course will be introduced to the modern techniques, developed at the \university and used by organisations such as WHO (World Health Organisation) and a major banking organisation.
