We obtained maximum scores in the most
recent QAA review for our curriculum design and organisation, our approach to teaching, learning and assessment, our student support and guidance, and our learning resources.

We have an internationally recognised research capability covering a range of topics, including abnormal, biological, cognitive, developmental, forensic, occupational and health psychology.
Our extensive suite of dedicated laboratories at City campus include networked psychological teaching laboratories and a video-recording and editing suite, as well as specialist laboratories for research in visual perception, social, developmental and physiological psychology. Two suites of project rooms and workshops support these. In addition, a psychology resources room includes a specialist psychological test library and provides students with a consultation/study area and access to core journal articles and past student projects.
We have links with many other institutions at home and abroad. We call upon many external contacts to inform and teach on our various courses. The BSc (Honours) degree in Psychology gives the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS), as well as conferring eligibility for Graduate Membership of the BPS. Gaining GBC is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist and is essential for those wishing to pursue a career in psychology.
We regularly run careers seminars where students can learn more about training and employment in these professional areas.
