Opens 16 June, free of charge
Jane Barnwell's (Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media & Design, London Metropolitan University) new film installation explores the creation of persona through the highly stylised and individual ways in which women transform their image through make-up.
We enter the tactile world of textures and tools where skin, pigment, lotions, potions, gloss, powder, sparkle, pots, bottles and brushes, collide and ignite the screen. In this close-up on the intimate relationship women have with the mirror and their cosmetics, a unique construction of identity is revealed giving clues to character, identity and emotion.
