Seminar: "The 'Problem' of Lone Motherhood in the 21st Century: More of the Same or Different?"
Supported by the Webb Memorial Trust
The Women's Library was delighted to open the records of One Parent Families in November 2003.
To mark the opening of the archive, One Parent Families and The Women's Library presented a seminar in association with the Centre for Contemporary British History entitled 'The 'Problem' of Lone Motherhood in the 21st Century: More of the Same or Different?', tracing the history of one-parent families and the charity, and how historic themes and policies resonate with the present day.
Speakers were Rt Hon Baroness Hollis of Heigham, Beatrix Campbell, Professor Jane Millar, Professor Carol Smart, Professor Hilary Land, Mavis Maclean and Professor Pat Thane.
This seminar was made possible by the kind support of the Webb Memorial Trust and a record of the proceedings are available from this site as well as for consultation in the Reading Room.
