This walking tour centres on Bow and follows in the footsteps of Sylvia Pankhurst.
Sylvia Pankhurst chose East London as the starting point for her campaign for women’s suffrage; and seeing the plight of working women she also established a creche, restaurant and model toy factory in the area.
See highlights along the route where supporters of the Suffragette movement worked including the famous Bryant & May match factory, site of the Match Girls’ strike of 1888.

Cottages to Cadets, Gardens to Green Belt: The Legacy of Octavia Hill

Join this walk to commemorate the centenary of the death of Octavia Hill, a tireless social reformer and co-founder of the National Trust. The tour explores Borough and Southwark where Octavia's legacy of artisan housing, Army Cadets and 'open sitting rooms' remain together with memories of women who shared her vision. Where The Heart Is

Where The Heart Is takes you on a walk of love. Download a series of evocative podcasts created by East End women aged from 15 to 80. Inspired by the collection at the Women’s Library, the group share tales of passion, friendship and belonging which are reflected in the spaces and places of Aldgate and Brick Lane. Signposted by still and moving images located in significant stopping places, the women’s voices will intrigue and interrogate, before inviting you to afternoon tea, and a chance to tell us your stories.
