Young women from Blackfriars Settlement’s girls’ club performed their poetry at a special event in the exhibition hall at The Women’s Library in July 2007.
Performing as the Independent Ladies, they had worked with spoken word poet Heather Taylor over several weeks to produce poetry responding to themes in our What Women Want exhibition including ‘beauty’ and ‘freedom’.
The project was supported by the Lambeth Children’s Fund and The Drapers Company.
