Search the collections

The Women's Library's collections include a wealth of unique and original materials. The reading room holds more recent publications and the vaults hold a much larger proportion of our rarer collections which you are welcome to order.

Material located in the on-site vaults can be requested in the Reading Room from Tuesday to Friday at 11.00, 13.00, 15.00 and also on Thursday at 17.00, 18.00 with the exception of posters, museum objects and the oral history collections; for further information on accessing this material please contact the enquiry desk.

We recommend ordering material in advance of your visit, allowing five working days (we are open Tuesday to Friday) for your request to be processed. Email

Organise a reading room visit tailored to special interests

To preserve our collections for the enjoyment of future generations we ask visitors to adhere to our regulations. Please deposit all bags, coats, drinks and food in the cloakroom located in the basement. We also ask readers to use pencil when taking notes and respect staff guidance concerning the handling and copying of the materials.   


 

Use the printed collections catalogue to identify books, pamphlets, periodicals, artist books, zines and videos.

Use the archive and museum collections catalogue  to identify individuals' and organisations' papers, objects, textiles, photographs and other visual materials.
