Centenary Celebrations and Souvenirs

5GFS/5/21 & 5GFS/12/9 Centenary souvenirs including headscarf, plate, ashtray and keyring. The emphasis is still on everyday objects.

5GFS/5/21 & 5GFS/12/9 GFS centenary souvenirs: headscarf, badge, plate, biro, ashtray, mug, keyring and sticker. After 100 years the emphasis is still on useful everyday objects - constant reminders to Members of their commitment to the Society.

The Society put aside the sadness of losing Townsend House to celebrate its centenary, with events such as the 'tremendous get-together' for 2,000 younger Members in Warwickshire, Mrs Townsend’s home and burial place. Also, Members nationwide competed for the titles Miss GFS and Miss Junior GFS, the winners performing a variety of official duties throughout the year. But the 'highspot' of the festivities was the Service of Thanksgiving and Re-dedication at Westminster Abbey, attended by 'a truly worldwide congregation'.
