Clean means scrubbing, dirt and suds and the satisfaction of making a surface completely smooth, as though it were new and we were at a fresh beginning, with nothing imposed and no limitations. Clean means honest and predictable. It means pleasure, and the worry that comes with it that that pleasure may be lost. Clean restricts my movements. I love feeling clean but, like getting soaked in thunderstorms, there is a glorious release in not caring and feeling mud squelch instead. |
