The following archives were recently donated to The Women's Library and will be available for research once they are catalogued:

2009 - New Archive & Museum Acquisitions

7NLA Papers of Nina Last re Endell Street Military Hospital (1914-c.1960s)
The archive consists of personal papers of Nina Courage (nee Last) relating to her time as a nurse at the Endell Street Military Hospital during the First World War. It includes her memoirs of her upbringing and work at the hospital in 3 volumes (written c.1950s-1960s; with typescript transcript by Annie Fox 2009), 3 childhood photographs with her siblings (including her sister Barbara Last who was also a nurse at Endell Street), 1 photograph group portrait of Endell Street staff, and her Endell Street uniform jacket. 8FLC Fawcett Library Audio Collection (1960s-1990s)
The collection consists of reel-to-reel cassettes and tape cassettes holding interviews with suffrage activists and Woman's Hour recordings relating to the Fawcett Library. (2 Archive boxes)

7VJH Papers of Vera 'Jack' Holme (additional) (c.1900-c.1950)
The accrual to the archive consists of personal papers including correspondence with notable friends such as Edy Craig and John Geilgud, photographs of artist Dorothy Johnstone, and of Holme's friends and family, and 4 OS boxes of glass slides (requiring digitisation) depicting Holme's activities in Serbia during the First World War. (3 A boxes & 5 OS boxes)

8WXA Women with X Appeal: Interview Collection (1980s)
The archive consists of 35 tiny tapes (requiring digitisation) holding interviews with female politicians made in the late-1980s by journalist, politician and human rights campaigner Lesley Abdela as background to her book 'Women with X appeal : women politicians in Britain today'. Includes interviews with Clare Short, Edwina Currie and Shirley Williams. (1 A box)

7CCF Papers of Clara Collet and family (1670s-1990s)
The archive consists of the personal papers of economist and social campaigner Clara Collet, including her diaries, correspondence, manuscripts and photographs. The majority of the archive consists of the personal papers of Clara Collet's ancestors and family members (brought together by Clara Collet) including correspondence of Collet Dobson Collet, Sophia Collet and the Barker, Dyke and Dobson families. (18 Transfer boxes, 2 Archive boxes)

6LIL Records of Lesbians in Libraries (1980s)
The archive consists of minutes, flyers, photographs, letters between members and publicity material of this campaigning organisation. (1 Archive box)

7MPO Papers of Margery Povall re women's employment (1979-1990s)
The archive consists of Povall's working papers relating to equal opportunity in the workplace, especially Positive Action initiatives in the banking sector. (6 Transfer boxes)

9/31 Autograph Letters (additional) (1912)
The accrual to the collection consists of a letter from Winifred Mayo of the WSPU to Nora Skinner re prison sentence of Gladys Evans for setting fire to a chair in the Theatre Royal, Dublin, 1912. (1 item)

7KGG Papers of Katie Gliddon (additional) (1912)
The accrual to the archive consists of 2 drawings of her prison cell in Holloway by Katie Gliddon and Gliddon's copy of Shelley poetry containing her prison diary (with sketches) made in Holloway prison 1912. With full transcript of diary by her great-neice Elaine Silver. (0.5 Archive box)

The accrual to the archive consists of personal and working papers including those relating to work for the Fawcett Society and for the government during the Second World War, and appointment diaries. (3 Transfer boxes)

7NBE Papers of Nan Berger (1935-1999)
The archive consists of papers relating to Berger's work as a journalist and political identity as a feminist and Communist. It includes copies of her manuscript and published articles, reports and photographs of her travels in China and South Africa in the 1960s, correspondence (including two letters from Simone de Beauvoir) and her unpublished autobiography.(3 Archive boxes)

The accrual to the archive consists of 2 photographs of Greenham Common activists. (2 objects)

7NMM Papers of Norma Marjoram re the Women's Land Army(1940s)
The archive consists of papers relating to Norma Marjorie Marjoram's time as a 'Land Girl' in the Women's Land Army (WLA) during the Second World War. It includes certificates of achievement, a letter from Queen Elizabeth II, and a badge and purse that Marjoram used during her work for the WLA. (0.5 Archive box)

The archive consists of the testimonial book and photographs of professional children's nanny and nursery nurse Alice Margaret Baldwin. The testimonial book includes details of Baldwin's training and employer references from throughout Baldwin's career, including letters from the Hoare banking family. (0.25 Archive box)

The collection consists of the Jill Craigie Suffrage Collection (including the archive of suffragette Grace Roe, interviews with former suffragettes and correspondence between the Pankhursts), the Jill Craigie Archive (including her working papers as a writer, campaigning feminist and film-maker, and her professional and personal correspondence), the Jill Craigie Objects Collection (including rare suffrage visual material) and the Jill Craigie Library (publications spanning the 18th - 20th century, including many that relate to feminism and women's history). 7BJE Papers of Betty Jerman relating to 'baby-snatching' (1971-2002)
The archive consists of material collected by Betty Jerman for a planned book on baby-abduction by women. It is mainly comprised of press cuttings from the national media about 'baby-snatching' cases, spanning 1971-2002. It also includes Jerman's book proposal outline, research notes, correspondence, typescripts and publications. (1 Archive box & 6 Albums)

7WCU Papers of Winifred Cullis (1900-1950s)
The archive consists of papers relating to Cullis' lecture tour of the USA from 1941-1942 on the subject of women's war work in Britain. The archive also includes biographical material such as portrait photographs of Cullis, the order of service for her funeral and press cuttings of obituaries. The archive contains two articles by Cullis on physiology and a publication: 'What British Women are doing in the War'. (0.5 Archive box)
