If you require particular assistance to visit The Women's Library, we will be happy to help. You can contact us in advance by email or telephone (020 7320 2222) to arrange advance booking of materials or additional information about the Library's collections and facilities. We welcome feedback and suggestions which will help us to improve access to our facilities and services for users.
Access information · The Women's Library is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with lift access to all areas. There are accessible toilets in the basement and on the first floor. · The Clore Seminar Room, where public talks are held, is equipped with an induction loop. · Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in all public areas. · Clear print versions of our leaflets are available on request.
Access to collections If you would like to use the Reading Room, we'll ask you to join the Library. Clear print copies of the registration form and details are available from the reception desk and you can register on the day you visit providing you bring some proof of identity with you.
Once you are here, a range of technologies and services are available in the Reading Room to help with your visit.
All access to collections is subject to our rules and responsibilities.
Visitor facilities Visitor facilities, including toilets, a cloakroom, and a water fountain, are located in the basement, accessible via stairs or lift. We have 30 lockers, operated using a £1 coin, which will be refunded after use. Coats can be locked up with a seat-belt style clip in the Cloakroom, but no valuables should be left in either storage facility.
Children and young people Young people are welcome at The Women's Library. Students focussing on suffrage for their coursework are warmly welcome to research at The Women's Library. Anyone over 14 can register as a reader and use the Reading Room. For more detailed information on what’s available, please read our Source Notes.
Children under the age of fourteen are welcome to use the Reading Room if accompanied by a responsible adult. Babies may be taken into the Reading Room at the discretion of Library staff, and are welcome throughout the rest of the building.
