James
Thompson is Professor of Applied and Social Theatre at the
Centre for Applied Theatre Research, University of Manchester. He is
currently the director of In Place of War and has worked in DR
Congo, Indonesia, Rwanda and Sri Lanka as part of the project. He is
author of Digging Up Stories: Applied Theatre, Performance and War
(2005, MUP) and Applied Theatre: Bewilderment and Beyond
(2003, Peter Lang). His practice has included work in war zones, with
refugee communities in the UK and in prisons and offender contexts
internationally. He is currently working with a team of Sri Lankan
artists on a major performance installation to take place in Sri
Lanka, September 2007.
