London Metropolitan University purchases Goods, Works and Services totalling £50 million a year from the private, public and voluntary sectors to meet corporate objectives and to provide high quality and cost effective services to its students and staff.

The Strategic Procurement Unit is available to provide advice and guidance to Professional Service and Academic Departments in sourcing and contracting. Our aim is to help you obtain best value for money from your budget, to give advice and guidance on the procurement process and how to abide by the University's Financial Regulations and applicable statutory European and UK Legislation.
We provide Tender and Request for Quotation (RfQ) documentation which is in line with best practice as well as a number of tools to help you with the project evaluation. If you need advice and guidance on the documentation then you should contact the Strategic Procurement Unit.
Strategic Procurement also provide a comprehensive contractor data base containing contract details on the University's contracted suppliers.

ABOUT US
The Strategic Procurement Unit (SPU) operates independantly from any administrative spend department and report directly to the Director of Finance.
The SPU has responsibility for:
- Setting, monitoring (in conjunction with the Internal Auditors & HEFCE) and maintaining minimum standards for the conduct of Procurement activity across the University and its subsidiaries regardless of the source of funding;
- Defining and promoting best procurement practice;
- Monitoring University purchasing performance and leading initiatives designed to ensure the University obtains best value for money;
- Providing a focus for the assessment and delivery of purchasing training needs throughout the University.
SPU have 2.8 staff whom are able to provide advice and guidance/direction on all aspects of the procurement process and are fully conversant with the University's Financial regulations and relevant external regulations including the EU Procurement Directives and UK Public Procurement Regulations.
