Copyright Licensing Agency licence

What is covered?

How much is permitted?

What is not covered?

Digitisation and scanning of copyright material

What does it cover?

The current licence covers print to paper copying and digitisation of print materials to be held in Weblearn.

Short term, full cost courses are not covered by the licence unless certain conditions are met and neither, under the terms of the EU Copyright Directive, is commercial copying.

Up to date lists of which publishers are covered by the licence can be found on the CLA website Participating publishers - Higher Education.
Some material is excluded altogether, see Excluded categories and excluded works.

The University must own an original copy or a copyright fee paid copy - scanning a lecturer's personally owned original is not covered. It must be the most recent version of the publication.
