Records and Compliance Office
Welcome to the Records and Compliance Office of London Metropolitan University.
As a central University office (based at Jewry Street, City Campus), we aim to:
-
increase awareness throughout the University of current information management legislation (namely Freedom of Information and Data Protection)
-
ensure University-wide compliance with this legislation
-
enhance the ability of the University to respond to requests for information through the creation and maintenance of an effective records management system.
The University has devised a policy for the management of records within the institution. This document indicates how the University can achieve an effective records management programme.
The Records Retention Schedule is based on the recommendations of JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee), and is a control document that sets out the period for which the University's business records should be retained.
Email and messaging systems are now so commonplace that they are deemed to facilitate and document the business of the University, and therefore they must be treated with the same care as any other record held by the institution.
For more detailed information on each of the above topics, please use the toolbar to the right of the screen.
