Full Text Databases
  • Academic Search Premier - Full-text access to thousands of journals across a broad range of topics, including titles such as Journal of International Relations and Development, International Journal of Conflict Management, Foreign Affairs, Journal of International Affairs and many more highly relevant to International Relations.

  • AuthorMapper
    AuthorMapper is a free online tool designed to discern trends and patterns, as well as subject experts, within scientific research.

  • Business Source Premier - Full-text access to thousands of journals, mainly in Business and Management but also including titles such as Defence & Peace Economics, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Global Governance, Journal of International Affairs and Palestine - Israel Journal of Politics, Economics & Culture.

  • Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) - covers mainly Development and International Relations. Full text journal articles, working papers, etc. plus links to a wide variety of sources. Includes the Online Journal of Peace and Conflict Resolution.

  • Directory of Open Access Journals - full text access to journals such as European Integration Online, Journal on Ethnopolitics and Minority Issues in Europe, New Balkan Politics, Peace Economics, Peace, Conflict and Development.

  • EBSCO Electronic Journals Service - Provides access to many of the University's electronic journals; enables searching in the title, abstract and full text, and downloading of articles from journals in all subject areas.

  • Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports - includes the publication series titles Middle East & Africa, Middle East & North Africa, Near East & South Asia Africa (Sub-Sahara), South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa Eastern Europe, East Europe.

  • Ingenta - useful for most topics. To list only those articles available in full text, select the Advanced Search and make sure you have clicked the "Subscribed Titles" option at the bottom of the screen.

  • JSTOR - useful for most topics but does not normally include articles from the last 5 years.

  • Nexis UK - for newspaper articles including The Financial Times, Guardian, Le Monde, Moscow News, New York Times, Washington Post, Frankfurter Rundschau, Allgemeine Zeitung.

  • OECD Main Economic Indicators - allows access to the most recent monthly release of the OECD Main Economic Indicators. The Main Economic Indicators contains data on national accounts, industrial production, employment, prices, business trends, finance and trade for the major world economies, and runs from January 1960 to the current month.

  • SwetsWise - From Content Search select Article Search, then either basic or advanced search. For best results, select Full Text subscriptions from the "Show" box.

  • ZETOC - very wide range of topics, useful when researching projects and dissertations. Covers journals and conference proceedings but only gives bibliographical details. Check the library catalogue to see if we subscribe to the journal.

  • AuthorMapper - AuthorMapper is a free online tool designed to discern trends and patterns, as well as subject experts, within scientific research.

  • Historical Abstracts - indexes and abstracts all aspects of world history, except for USA and Canada, from 1450 to the present day. References are from over 2,100 journals worldwide. Subjects covered include world history, culture, diplomacy, economics, international relations and politics.

  • IBSS (International Bibliography of the Social Sciences) - covers the social sciences and related subjects and contains bibliographic references to articles and books.

  • Index to Theses - index to theses accepted for higher degrees by the Universities of Great Britain and Ireland.

  • Social Sciences Citation Index - multidisciplinary database, with searchable author abstracts, covering the journal literature of the social sciences. It indexes more than 1,725 journals spanning 50 disciplines, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 3,300 of the world's leading scientific and technical journals.

  • ZETOC - provides access to the British Library's Electronic Table of Contents.The database contains details of approximately 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published per year, from 1993 onwards.
