Databases for History

--

Full Text Databases
  • Academic Search Complete (ASC)
A broad database covering many disciplines, but with good coverage of economic and social history.

  • Humanities International Complete (HIC)
HIC provides full text of hundreds of journals, books and other published sources from around the world, focusing on the Arts and Humanities.

  • JSTOR
Contains back issues of many important history journals. For most, however, access stops three years ago.

  • Sage Journals Online
Contains full-text articles of the most popular peer-reviewed journals in Communication Studies, Management & Organization Studies, Materials Science, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, and Urban Studies & Planning. Access is to subscribed journals only, get a list by clicking on “SAGE journals available to me”. Can also read summaries to journal articles we don’t subscribe to or which might be available via other databases.

Abstracts and Indexes

These databases describe articles, books and other scholarly material with publication details (i.e. Title, Author, Abstract, etc.) to help you find articles will be relevant to your research and where to find them. They include more journals than most Full Text databases, so they are particularly useful if you need to review the existing literature on a topic.

If you want to read an article, click the OTHER RESOURCES button to find out if London Met subscribes to that journal.
