The following film journals can be found in full text online. They are freely available on the Web, so can be accessed from outside the University. Some titles are more popular in approach than the academic titles listed above.

Bright Lights Film Journal Totally online, very lively, journal from San Francisco. Print edition discontinued in 1996. Popular-academic hybrid of movie analysis, history, and commentary, looking at classic, commercial, independent, exploitation, gay and international cinema.

Continuum Thematically based cultural studies journal. The primary focus of the journal is upon screen media. Archive 1987-1994 only.

Film Comment Includes selected full text articles from the current issue of the magazine and from their archive going back to the May-June 1996 issue.

Film Feature Forum This online index offers English abstracts of essays and articles recently published in eleven European film journals.
- Film-Philosophy A journal and discussion salon promoting a philosophical review of cinema and film studies.
- Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media A few articles available online. However, no. 42, Summer 2000 is only available online (it was never published on paper) and you can find it here.
- Images: a Journal of Film and Popular Culture Quarterly online full text journal. Regular specials on such topics as Stardom and Film Noir. Academic articles with footnotes, book and film reviews, columns, genre studies, etc.
- Jump Cut Full text online from no. 44, 2001. To access no. 42, 1998 and no. 43, 2000 go to IIPAFT - International Index to the Performing Arts Full Text (only available from within the University).
- KINEMA - a Journal of History, Theory and Aesthetics of Film and Audiovisual Media Selected articles online back to 1993.
- Offscreen Academic/theoretical including essays, columns, reviews. Truly international in coverage, including a good deal on Asian cinema. All full-text online.
- p.o.v. - a Danish journal of Film Studies.
Biannual journal starting in 1996.
- Postmodern Culture Inter-disciplinary, but has articles as well as special issues on film. Current issue available online in Web format. Searchable back issue archive available in text only format.
- Premiere Online Selected articles only. Includes archive back to 1997.
- Scope - an online journal of film studies Refereed journal from the Institute of Film Studies, University of Nottingham.
- Screen Studies Writings and reference material related to film and television and is a valuable resource for students and those interested in screen industries and screen culture.
- Screening The Past An international, refereed, electronic journal of visual media and history.
- Senses of Cinema An online film journal devoted to the serious and eclectic discussion of cinema.
- Sight and Sound Some features and reviews are available in full text online, features dating back to December 1999 and reviews dating back to January 1999.
