An excellent source of information for undergraduate and postgraduate students from their first assignment to their project. This is a key source of information for project students at undergraduate or MSc. level, students undertaking research for a PhD, staff undertaking research.

  • Full text access to IEEE and IET journals, magazines, transactions, conferences and IEEE standards.
  • IEEE/IET publications on all aspects of computing and related areas including multimedia and also electrical and electronic and communications engineering.
  • Coverage is from 1988 onwards, plus selected content back as far as 1913.
  • Browse a specific title or search the IEEE Xplore database for articles by topic.

Key resource for most Faculty of Computing MPhil/PhD students and staff undertaking research and a useful source of information for final year undergraduate and postgraduate project students.

  • Over 4000 journals and some 2000 published conference proceedings are covered as well as reports and dissertations from many publishers and institutions, including IEEE/IET.
  • International database covering world literature from many publishers in computing and related areas from1992 onwards.
  • Detailed abstracts (i.e. summaries) and citations or references (i.e. author, article title, journal /conference title, volume, date of publication, etc.) to journal articles and conference proceedings but not the full text.
  • You may have access to the journal from the library catalogue or may be able to obtain the article via our Interlibrary loans service.
  • Search the Inspec database by topic.

This is a good source of information for final year undergraduate and MSc students researching for projects, /MPhil/PhD students and staff undertaking research. The Cited Reference Search feature may be particularly useful for MPhil/PhD students and staff.

  • International database covers world literature in all areas of science. It contains the citation indexes, The Science Citation index and Conference Proceedings Citation Index.
  • Access to references and abstracts, i.e. summaries (but usually not to the full text) of scientific journal articles and conference proceedings extending back to 1981. You may be able to obtain the article via our Interlibrary loans service.
  • Search by topic.
  • Cited Reference Search. Find the articles that cite a person's work

Zetoc - Electronic Table of Contents (ETOC) from the British Library ★ ★
This database is a useful adjunct to INSPEC and ISI web of Knowledge, for PhD students and staff undertaking research.

  • Covers science (inc. computing and mathematics), technology, medicine, engineering, business, law, finance and the humanities from 1993 to date.
  • Contains contents pages of approximately 20,000 current journals and details of 16,000 conference proceedings.
  • Search for references and abstracts (summaries) but not the full text to journal articles and conferences. You may be able to obtain the article via our Interlibrary loans service.
  • Table of Contents alerting service, allows the contents pages of chosen journals to be emailed every time a new issue is loaded into the database.
