- Academic Search Complete
A very large multidisciplinary database, which contains scholarly journals, newspapers and popular magazines. Indexes well over 8,000 journal titles, including more than 4,700 full text journals. Covers biology, chemistry, education, humanities, law, physics, psychology, sociology, and many other disciplines.
- Business Source Premier
BSP contains full text journals plus summaries to some articles available full text elsewhere and market research data. Subjects covered are accounting, banking, business, economics, finance, management, sales & marketing, logistics & transport. BSP contains full text of the Harvard Business Review from 1922. Datamonitor, Gartner and others provide market research, industry reports and company reports & SWOT analysis. The Economist Intelligence Unit provides some country reports.
- Ebscohost Electronic Journals Service
Provides access to many of the University's electronic journals; enables searching in the title, abstract and full text, and downloading of articles from journals in all subject areas.
- Emerald Management eJournals
This database provides full-text articles covering management disciplines including strategy, leadership, information management, and marketing and human resource management. Good for Occupational Psychology and Business case studies.
- ESDS
The Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) is a national data service providing access and support for an extensive range of key economic and social data, both quantitative and qualitative, spanning many disciplines and themes. ESDS provides an integrated service offering enhanced support for the secondary use of data across the research, learning and teaching communities. Register to use the service.
- IBSS (International Bibliography of the Social Sciences)
This is one of the largest and most comprehensive social science databases in the world with access to over 2 million records. Current data is taken from over 2800 international social science journals and around 7000 books per year. Abstracts are available for up to 60% of the journals covered.
- Index to Theses

- IngentaConnect
Ingenta Connect is a full-text electronic gateway for access to a fast-growing range of full-text electronic journals from leading publishers. This web-based service allows anyone to search and browse their database of articles free of charge, and to display bibliographic information and abstracts.
- ISI Web of Knowledge (Social Science Citation Index)
The ISI Web of Knowledge offers access to a range of databases that can be searched simultaneously or singly. Databases include Medline &the Web of Science through which the Social Science Citation Index and ISI Proceedings (Social Sciences & Humanities conference proceedings) can be accessed and searched. The Social Science Citation Index indexes over 1700 major social science journals covering all social science and related disciplines. ISI Proceedings indexes the published literature of the most significant conferences, seminars, workshops & conventions in a wide range of disciplines in the social sciences and humanities.
- JSTOR
This is a digital archive of core scholarly journals starting with the very first issues. Subject covered include Economics, Finance, Architecture, History, Literature, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, and Sociology. The collection is mainly historical. For the most recent three to five years you will need to use other services. The database allows you to search by subject, or browse individual issues.
- Lawtel
Lawtel provides daily updates and brief summaries of recent UK cases, articles, bills, legislation and practice directions. Also summaries from EU law and directives.Includes quantum reports, actuarial tables and practitioner questions.
- Lexis Library
Lexis Library has access to full text case law, legislation and commentary, including Halsbury's Laws of England.
- Oxford Journals Archive
The Oxford Journals Archive represents over 165 years of historical research. The online archive contains articles from over 140 titles, collected into subject-based archives, which includes The Humanities Archive (1829 - 1995), The Medicine Archive (1878 - 1995), The Science Archive (1848 - 1995), The Law Archive (1952 - 1995) and The Social Science Archive (1902 - 1995).
- Sage Journals Online
The SAGE Full-Text Collections are discipline-specific research databases of the most popular peer-reviewed journals in Communication Studies, Criminology, Education, Health Sciences, Management & Organization Studies, Materials Science, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Urban Studies & Planning published by SAGE Publications and participating societies. Subject fields covered by journals available through ScienceDirect include the following: Mathematics, Medicine, Psychology, and Social Sciences. ScienceDirect gives access to over 1500 scientific, technical & medical peer-reviewed journals published by Elsevier Science, including the full-text of more than 2 million scientific journal articles.
- Social Care Online
Social Care Online is the UK's most extensive free database of social care information. Materials available include research briefings, reports, government documents, journal articles and websites and is updated daily.
- SwetsWise
SwetsWise offers access to the full text version of over 300 journals taken by London Metropolitan University Journals including Economic Affairs, Cultural Studies, European Journal of Women's Studies, Modern Law Review and many more.
- ZETOC
The British Library's Electronic Table of Contents service contains details of 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings from1993 onwards. ZETOC allows you to search by subject. In addition ZETOC has an alerting service through which allow you can be emailed the contents pages of your chosen journals or articles on a every time a new issue is loaded into the database.

The news coverage offered is impressive with approximately 12,000 publications from national and local newspapers, press releases, transcripts of TV broadcasts, newswires, statistical bulletins, magazines and trade journals. Also includes full text information covering news, company, industry, legal, market research and directory sources.

NewsFilm Online offers access to over 3,000 hours of downloadable television news and cinema newsreels, selected from the ITN/Reuters Television archives.
