Databases that index Biological Sciences
- Pubmed Medline
MEDLINE is a bibliographic database containing references to and abstracts of journal articles from 1950 to the present, with some older material. New citations that have been indexed with MeSH terms, publication types, GenBank accession numbers, and other indexing data are available daily.
MEDLINE is multi-disciplinary and international in scope, and includes over 16 million references covering all aspects of the life sciences with a concentration on biomedicine. A distinctive feature of MEDLINE is that the records are indexed with NLM's Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). About 700,000 citations are currently added to the database each year.
MEDLINE is the largest component of PubMed, the freely accessible online database of biomedical journal citations and abstracts created by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Approximately 5,200 journals published in the United States and more than 80 other countries have been selected and are currently indexed for MEDLINE.
