Renewing your loans

--

Important information
  • You will not be able to renew any item that has been reserved by another borrower.

  • You will not be able to renew any items if one of your loans is overdue and reserved.

  • You will not be able to renew any of your loans if you have received an invoice for any item. Before this you will be able to renew books but will be charged overdue fines. Invoices for One Week and Three Week loans are sent when they are 35 days late.

  • The above applies only to one week and three week loans. You can only renew items from the Short Loan collection by bringing them to the Service Desk at the library where you borrowed them. Fines of 50p per hour or part of an hour are charged on these items if they are returned or renewed late. Short Loan items are invoiced after 6 days and these invoices will also stop you renewing other items.

  • When you are blocked from renewing you will also be blocked from making reservations and accessing our online resources until you have cleared your fines.

  • You will not be able to renew your items if you owe more than £40.00 in library fines or charges.

  • You will need to clear all outstanding charges at the beginning of each semester. If you do not do so, your library account will be blocked and it will not be possible to renew your loans.

  • If you are suspended from the university you must return any borrowed items immediately. You will be unable to renew them but you will be liable for any fines incurred.

  • You cannot renew Interlibrary Loans yourself. You must bring these in to the library where you borrowed them so that we can check whether a renewal is possible.

Email Reminders
  • The email service to remind readers that they have items about to become overdue is a courtesy service only. It is the reader's responsibility to ensure that loans are renewed or returned on time. Due dates are shown on the 'My Account' section on the library catalogue.
