Slide Collection Commercial Road Library

The Slide Collection in Commercial Road Library comprises more than 80,000 slides covering a wide range of Art and Design subjects.

Architecture, Art Theory, Book Arts, Ceramics,
Engineering Design, Exhibitions and World Fairs, Fashion and Dress,
Fine Art, Furniture, Glass, Graphic Design, Industrial Design,
Interior Design, Jewellery, Metalwork, Musical Instruments,
Natural Forms, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Techniques, Textiles.

The slides are stored in filing cabinets, situated next to the IT Suite. It is a browsable, open access Collection. Light boxes are available for easy viewing of slides.



Who may use the Collection?
Both staff and students of London Metropolitan University who have registered with the Library may borrow slides. External library users may not borrow slides.

How to find slides
A guide and subject index to the Collection is available and there is a card index of designers and artists.

How to borrow slides
Complete a loan form (available in the slides area). Slides should be replaced with cards which carry the name of the borrower. The loan form and box of slides should be checked at the Information Desk. To book a slide projector please ring ext.4444 (Information Systems and Services helpline).



Time limits for loans
The lending periods are 2 weeks for staff and 2 days for students. Please ask at the Information Desk if your project requires a longer loan period.

Copyright
Slides from the Collection must not be re-photographed or digitally scanned.


The DACS Slide Licensing Scheme
Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS)
All slides produced in-house for the Commercial Road Slide Collection are covered by the licence or cleared with the copyright owner. The slides are solely for the educational use of staff and students of the University.

The DACS licence does not permit the digital reproduction of artistic works at present.
